Heartland Church is a Baptist fellowship in Yarra Glen established in 2006. It was established to help serve the needs of young families of Yarra Glen with a relevant expression of church. Heartland is now widely engaged with the community, continuing to serve the town with Playgroup, school support and regularly offering all community courses and events. We are also engaged with our local Men’s Shed, local interchurch Op Shop, local welfare agency HICCI, and various youth and community initiatives in partnership with local council. Our partnership extends to the Ilomavis Church of Christ in the southern Philippines, working with the Obo Manobo people in the highlands of Mindanao. We are supporting them in establishing income generating projects to help lift them out of poverty, and raising Christian leaders in their community.
Heartland is home grown, with people from as far a Glenburn, Croydon and Healesville joining Yarra Glen locals who actively participate in Heartland church life. We are everyday people who understand that life has its challenges. We love and follow Jesus and seek to love God with our heart, soul, mind and strength, and love our neighbour as we love ourselves.
What we believe
We believe in the God of the Bible, Creator of the whole universe, this world, and everything in it. We believe God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three distinct beings in one, often referred to as the Trinity. We believe God created the world a perfect place, and people with free will, but sin has corrupted our world and separated us from God. God is both gracious and merciful, but also just and righteous.
Jesus, also known as the Son of God, God in human form, was born as a baby, lived on earth, taught humankind what God is like, then gave himself on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins. We believe in salvation by faith in Jesus, in the life transforming power of His Holy Spirit.
