Illomavis Partnership

Heartland has supported the Illomavis Church of Christ in the Philippines for many years. The relationship began when our previous Pastor met a young man named Rolan. Together they decided to partner our two churches to aid Rolan’s community.

Heartland started by providing funds to set up a piggery. The idea was that the Illomavis Church would raise pigs and sell them for a profit, the money could then be used to help meet the needs of the local people. This was only the first of many projects, since then there has been a fish farm, banana plantation and rubber plantation just to name a few, some have failed along the way which should be expected with farming as it is very dependent on the weather. The most recent farm is a cucumber farm and it is proving to be very successful.

Heartland has help the Illomavis Church in many other ways as well, a few of these are providing meals at Christmas time, the purchase of a motorcycle for transport, sending boxes of clothes, setting up a small shop to sell rice and other necessary products to the local community at a fair price emergency relief after the devastating and ongoing earthquakes. We also started a new banana plantation during 2020 and we are looking forward to seeing this develop into a productive small business.

We are excited to see the positive change our local church can bring to the wider church and look forward to hearing the many good news stories that come from this partnership.
